The Historic "Quad" to become a triad.

Efforts are underway to subdivide the Armstrong Building and Stevenson Hall from the rest of the campus. Stevenson is currently part of the quadrangle that includes North Pacific Hall, Whitmore Hall, and Fraser Hall, and is part of the historic landmark designation. Nancy Yaw Davis recently wrote a letter to the editor which noted that the change can take place without public input.

I just went through some old Sheldon Jackson College "Adventures", the publication sent out to friends and volunteers of the college. I see in the Fall 1996 issue that the Stratton Library campaign was announced to raise funds for an addition to the library. I remember that a bunch of money was raised for that specific purpose.
Just a couple of questions: Did the donors to that campaign give their permission to shift their donations into operations? Does the college have a ledger of those donations? Does the college have a legal obligation to repay those donations?
This is just another inquiry about the recognition by the college of funds that were donated for specific purposes (library, scholarships, endowment, etc.) and whether or not there are legal obligations to follow through with the purposes of those funds.

There seems to be a fine line regarding designated gifts. If you gave money and backed it up with specific written limitations on its use then there is a legal and moral obligation that the money could be used for no other purpose. We gave $10000 toward the Allen project and the contractor walked off the job the same day. We were not specific correct in how our gift was made and when we inquired we were told it was used to retire debt on that project. The Stratton Library project seems to fall into that same gray area. Clyde

So, I'm hoping someone will be able to respond to this post. :) I am a former SJ student and am looking to get a second degree and in need of at LEAST the course catalog (the University wants course syllabi, but I think the best I may be able to do is the course catalogs) for 2001-2002, 2002-2003, 2003-2004, 2004-2005. ANY chance ANYONE out there has ANY idea how I might be able to get my hands on these??? And/or copies of the specific courses I took from the catalogs that I need? Please respond if anyone sees this and can be of help! Thanks so much! (I'm having follow-up comments emailed to me.)

Kayli,
Try the Alaska Post Secondary Commission. They should have the information you need. They accredited Sheldon Jackson College during those dates.

Thank you so much, Karen! I spoke with Kathy Newman and she directed me towards them as well! :)

Blessings.
