Two of the SJC Trustees talk on Raven Radio’s program Give and Take. Hear the program here.
The school has now been closed for 6 months and the two Trustees said on this program that it will be mid 2008 before laid off employees are paid. They also mentioned that expenses continue. The question that each laid off employee has to ask themselves is will there be any money left to pay employees when all is said and done. It was interesting that one Trustee didn’t even know how much money was owed to laid off employees and if you do the math the other Trustee might have guessed low.

After listening to the call-in program and hearing, once again, that the Board of Trustees is trying hard to preserve the core campus for an entity that would meet the Native education mission of the old SJC, I have decided to quit talking around the fringes. Native and non-Native supporters of a tribal college option, specifically one located in Sitka at SJC, should go to the following site and begin to communicate. If enough people get on-board and talk to each other, anything is possible:

ooops, marcel or Chris, could you add the correct link: Of-course, it's:

Thanks,

Thanks Ted,
I'll change it.
I agree a tribal college is a great idea.
On this show, one of the board members mentioned that SJ(C?) has 1.5 employees. I am guessing the 1 is David (so what's his title these days? I hope not President of SJ(C?)), but who's the .5? (Debby Puckett?) and what the hell does this person do?
Next, I can't believe that SJ(C?) is still getting money should any good Presbyterian be still giving money
I forgot to ask.... WHERE ARE THE MINUTES FROM ALL THESE DAMN MEETINGS?
I do believe you are right on the employees. As far as a title for Dobler, I guess he can call himself what ever he wants. I know what many people call him and it isn’t President.
As far as minutes, would you really expect any transparency? Dobler has always held his cards close to his chest, but then again most people who have something to hide do.
As far as donations, I sure can’t figure out why anyone would give any money to a defunct school. I do know that many people who did give money and or time are feeling a bit burnt right now. Some are even darn right mad. And, could you blame them?
Marcel, if you listen to the cast, which I know you did, the trustees mention 1.5 employees and say Debby by name (re: audit stuff).
Actually, why should I expect a trustee to know something, they haven't been informed to date! lol!
And I know what I call David. If I weren't a gentleman I would post it.
And the Joy Fund should cut off funds to SJ(C?) and give it to a real 501c3. I hope they are just being nice and letting them collect until they can do another printing of joy fund info.
Some of the titles I have heard are crook, thief, and liar. No one I know calls him doctor or reverend anymore.
You know, its funny. Often times, on campus, the students referred to the professors by just their last name. So, Dr. Allison would become simply Allison, etc.
However, to their classroom, the respectful "Dr." was always added. It was more of a camaraderie thing, treating them like friends when with friends, but recognizing that they held a position of respect, that they earned, when in the classroom.
I have to say, however, no one I know ever managed to refer to Dobler with the "Dr." Not even to his face. Maybe we always knew he was not to be respected. And I sure as heck can't think of him as a Reverend. Pat is a Reverend (and a Dr. for that matter), Dobler is a joke.
Sol you hit the nail on the head.
He was not the only "professional" staff member that deserves no respect.
