Should the Church continue to finance SJ(C?)?

That very question is being asked by the General Assembly Council of the Presbyterian Church (USA). According to a Church News Service release on February 15th, a delegation will visit Sitka to determine whether or not the Church should continue to provide SJ(C?) with a share of the proceeds from the Christmas Joy Offering.

Of note: Beneva Bibbs (SJ Board Member) states in the letter that SJ(C?) has retained accreditation. Interesting.

Do you suppose that these PCUSA officials would be willing to meet with former staff/VIMS? It would be nice if they understood the state of current management.

I hope that someone from the PCUSA is smart enough to talk to people other than Dobler who can be a charmer while lying through his teeth.

Oh yeah, I am sure SJ is about as accredited as those scam schools you see on TV. Maybe they are "nationally" or "internationally" accredited.

Psshh...I hope the PCUSA is smart enough to do some independent research.

I stand corrected, apparently.

It is my deep hope that the PC(USA) give the Joy Fund monies to some school or organization that actually exists still! But being less flippant, the good folks of the PC(USA) should not subsidize this mess! There are too many worth PC(USA) related organizations that could use these monies to spread the Gospel, educated students, or feed the poor! Not to sell land and pay legal or realtor costs

I trust that the PC(USA) won’t be snowballed by David, I hope they are too smart for that. While I like and respect them, I also call on all those connected with SJC directly (i.e., Board Members and David) acknowledge their conflicts of interest in this matter. I think Beneva, Henry, Walter, Jerry, etc. should not participate in the decision making and related deliberations on the respective matter or use their personal influence, directly or indirectly in the matter. In addition, they will not be involved in the subsequent approval/authorization (taken from lehigh.edu). They should also not advocate to their colleagues at PC(USA) that this funding be maintained!

Be well,

I have written a letter directly to PCUSA and would encourage EVERYONE to write them to not give SJ a dime. Let's not just sit back on the sidelines on this one please.

I'd also encourage folks to email member of the committee directly to share your thoughts. I would, for tactical purposes, would also encourage you to cc the moderator and David Dobbler. Some might say why contact

While I would never put folks emails on a blog, because that's just not cool, I will provide the link so that you can "do the research" yourself.
