I would also add that I know the Stratton Library roof leaks. I have personally repaired several leaks in the roof and I would assume in the year that I have not been employed at SJ that the roof has not gotten better. I also know that while I was at SJ the heat on the lower floor didn’t work properly. I highly doubt that Chilkat finished the work we started to repair the lower floor heat. Oh, and did I mention that during the winter the library can use well over 1,200 gallons of heating oil to keep it at 60 degrees. I agree that the valuable documents, book and photos should be turned over to someone who will take care of them before it is too late.
Christ, they still have those in there? Turn them over to someone who cares about the historical value of those items! What are you thinking?
Oh wait. We know what they are thinking. They are thinking they can sell these items to the highest bidder. Those items belong to the public. Turn them over immediately!
Glad they are taking their time on this important issue. I would hate for someone to make a rash and poorly thought out decision with so much on the line. Yep, that would be a real shame.
But really, I'm with the other two. Someone is being stupid.
Hell, maybe they could give away the common items in the collection, and send the others to libraries "on loan." It just might work.
With the suspension of academic programs and the termination of nearly all staff, Sheldon Jackson College is undergoing a period of serious tumult. What will happen to the 130 year old institution? This site will attempt to keep folks informed.
