ACPE Meets - prepares to investigate student complaints

The Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education (ACPE) held their quarterly meeting today. On the agenda was the situation at SJ. The highlights:

ACPE staff recognized Kathy Newman and David Harrington, along with staff at UAS for their work on the teach-out, which includes 12 students.

They also approved a motion to investigate complaints received from former students regarding costs incurred due to closure, scholarships promised but not disbursed, and other financial matters. They will reportedly be contacting affected students.

The earlier decision to cancel authorization to operate stands, and was not further addressed. It did not appear that anyone from SJ attended.

I am glad, read: jubilant, ACPE is investigating SJC. It is about time something was done--they need to drag everyone of those people into court--starting with the Trustees whose inaction with students complains is appalling--anyone remember Brian Chamberlain! This is only the tip of the iceburg and it will only get worse. If anyone defends SJC for their BS then I would love to see what skelotons are in their closet! Again, it is about time--the can of worms has just spilt on the floor. Jesus decried such institutional corruption and hypocrisy. President Dobler should think about the state of his soul in allowing or being a part of such corruption--and don't tell me he didn't act less a pastor and more the businessman in his dealings with the college. The PCUSA should be a plaintiff in this future case--If Jesus were the judge God have mercy on the Church and her so-called representatives. I am using harsh works because Jesus used hard sayings--remember "whitwashed tombs."

Repentance and Restitution are the watchwords of the day for the Administration of SJC.

In Christ the Lord of the Church.

Perhaps some clarification is needed. ACPE is not going on a witch hunt. A few months ago, students were informed that they may be eligible for a reimbursement of funds for costs related to the closure. In order to receive funds, they needed to file a complaint. These complaints are being investigated. This is not CSI: Sheldon Jackson.

I am so glad I graduated years ago with Sheldon Jackson. I was around at time when SJ was talking about closing, so I understand what students feel. It is time that the board starts to feel the same pain students feel. I am glad they are being investigated. Time will tell. Save SJ!!!!
